We work with one of the oldest materials on earth: wood.
Ottawa Lumber Bin was built around a simple idea — everyday objects should be made properly. No shortcuts. No disposable materials. No waste. Just solid hardwood, chosen carefully, finished by hand, and built to be kept.
We make things meant to outlast the trends, the seasons, and the kitchen renovations. Things you reach for every day without thinking about it, because they just work.
Where we come from
Before Ottawa Lumber Bin, our founder spent years working at height — operating tower cranes on high-rise construction sites across Ottawa. After that, he served as a first responder with the City of Ottawa. Both were careers to be proud of. Both eventually ran their course.
A few years ago, he went back to something he'd always come back to: wood. What started as a way to keep his hands busy became something he couldn't stop thinking about — in the best way. The precision of it. The material. The fact that you put work in and something real comes out the other end.
Ottawa Lumber Bin grew out of that time, and we're not sure it would exist any other way.
Our values
Every piece that leaves this shop is handbuilt by one person — start to finish. The design, the milling, the finishing, the packaging, the shipping. There's no team, no production line, no outsourced anything. That means every board, every frame, every set of coasters gets the same full attention — because there's no one else to catch what gets missed.
We believe in making things that earn their place in your home. Not things that look good in a photo and fall apart in a year. The grain, the weight, the way it sits on your counter — these things matter to us, and we think they matter to you too, or you wouldn't be here.

Ottawa is where this started, and it's where everything still happens. Every piece is made here. The wood is sourced responsibly. The work is done by hand.
Our goal hasn't changed since day one: make honest things, take pride in the work, and get a little better every day.
Commitment to Sustainability
Sustainability has become a broad and often overused word. For us, it begins with respect for the material.
Wood is one of the most renewable materials on earth when sourced responsibly. It grows back, stores carbon, and requires far less energy to produce than most alternatives.
But the most important part of sustainability is longevity. A well-made piece should last decades. The most sustainable products are the ones people keep.
That's the kind of sustainability we believe in.

We work primarily with hardwoods like maple, walnut, cherry, white oak, and purpleheart—each chosen for its durability, beauty, and long-term performance in the kitchen.
